GolfWest aims to foster the game in Melbourne’s western suburbs
Eight golf clubs in Melbourne’s west have teamed up to boost the game.
There was a time when I was more than happy to play my home golf course over and over, never caring to play that other course down the road or that one over in the next suburb. This is no longer the case for me, or for many other golfers who like to test their game on different courses at different times of the week.
Eight golf courses in the western suburbs of Melbourne have recognised this and have collaborated to grow the game in this region by fostering interclub relations and assist with the retention of their members
The new initiative known as “Golf West” will be launched next month, the alliance was formed by eight golf clubs, namely; Eynesbury Golf Club, Medway Golf Club, Kooringal Golf Club, Melton Valley Golf Club, Northern Golf Club, Sanctuary Lakes Golf Club, Sunshine Golf Club
Werribee Park Golf Club.
Members of these golf clubs can now play a complimentary round on each of the other participating golf courses at least once over a 12 month period.
It’s a wonderful initiative. One that is the sort of ‘outside the box’ thinking the game needs now and the sort of membership incentive I expect to see more of over the coming years.
