Golf club spotlight: Pacific Harbour Golf & Country Club

In our new club profile feature, we take a look at the Pacific Harbour Golf & Country Club on Queensland’s beautiful Bribie Island.

As much as would like to, we can’t get around to all of the 1000+ golf courses in Australia and review them properly. But what we can do is throw the spotlight on some of Australia’s great golf courses and give you a taste (and a tease) on what they have on offer including the golf course, club house, membership options and accommodation in case you want to “stay and play”.

First up, Pacific Harbour Golf and Country Club.

Located just over an hours drive north from Brisbane Airport, Pacific Harbour is located on Bribie Island and is regularly rated as one of the best public access golf course in Queensland. (#24 in Australia: Golf Australia Magazine 2013)

Course architect, Ross Watson, much admired for his work on Palm Meadows, Robina Woods and Royal Sydney, has conceived Pacific Harbour’s 6,402 metre par 72 golf course as a temptation to social players and professionals alike.

All the key characteristics of a world-class course have been incorporated: a great layout that tracks the terrain naturally, challenging design and memorable holes, framed by beautiful landscaping which emulates the unique coastal forest environment on Bribie Island.

Accolades
The Ross Watson designed island links course quickly became the ‘must play’ course of South East Queensland, with an opening ranking of ‘#6 public access course in Australia’ and ‘Best new public access course in Queensland’ (Golf Australia, Feb 2007).

Clubhouse
The contemporary design of the Pacific Harbour Clubhouse features The Deck Bar & Restaurant. The main, large deck can cater for up to 120 for functions. The Ross Watson room is a 40 person people style theatre that comes with conferencing capabilities.

For those interested in a ‘stay and play’ package, Pacific Harbour has a great range of accommodation options. Full details can be found here, but on course accommodation at The Golfers Lodge looks superb for a golf trip away with mates.
