Most of what encompasses all of golf is public and private golf clubs and the occasional driving range. At least that’s the public perception. But as most golfers know, the sport is in our veins and its reach extends much further than the golf course with chatter about missing the 18th fairway or making that birdie putt infiltrating many of our lives in different locations.

This is why it’s great to see Golf Australia featuring facets of the game beyond the usual programming, highlighting family-owned businesses that make golf accessible and welcoming.

Johnnys Golf Shop has been operating in Hawthorn in Melbourne for less than a year but it is already generating a cult following among golfers and locals.

In essence, it’s just a place to go grab a coffee but Johnny’s Golf Shop has become a place to share a love for golf, offering a friendly atmosphere for newcomers to experience the game.
