A change of dates for the Australian PGA Championship will see it finish a big three weeks of golf in Australia this December.
The final dates have been finalized for the three big professional golf tournaments to be held in Australia in December.
The Australian PGA Championship was originally slated to be played in early December but it will now be played at RACV Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast from 19 – 22 December completing a big three weeks of professional golf in Australia.
Based on discussions with key tournament stakeholders including co-sanctioning partner, the European Tour, it was decided to close out the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia season with the Australian PGA Championship resulting in the change of date from that previously announced in November 2018.
“The Australian PGA Championship, when it is played from 19-22 December, will top off a huge three weeks of golf in Australia when it follows the Emirates Australian Open and The Presidents Cup,” said Gavin Kirkman, CEO of the PGA of Australia.
“The Australian PGA Championship has been embraced by the players and sports fans for its fun atmosphere and we feel that it is important for it to be the final tournament of the year for us to deliver that experience expectation.”
Prior to that the Australian Open will kick things off at The Australian Golf Club in Sydney from 5 – 8 December, 2019.
A week later the Presidents Cup will roll into Melbourne.
Featuring Tiger Woods and Ernie Els as team captains, Team USA will take on the Internationals at Royal Melbourne Golf Club from December 12 – 15, 2019.
It will be the 13th time the Presidents Cup has been played and the third occasion it has been held in Australia at Royal Melbourne.
