Construction to begin on new Kangaroo Island golf course

Channel 7 have reported on the new golf course soon to be constructed on South Australia’s Kangaroo Island.

The Cliffs, Kangaroo Island has been in the planning stages for many years but after a number of setbacks and planning hurdles to jump over, construction will commence in the next few months.

The project will be the first fourth golf course constructed on Australia’s third-largest island that lies southwest of Adelaide and will aide in boosting Kangaroo Island’s tourism industry that was ravaged by bushfires in the summer of 2019-20.

EDIT: We’ve been informed there are indeed already three golf courses on Kangaroo Island. thanks to reader Ronnie who set us straight on this.

Designed by Darius Oliver, (co-designer of Cape Wickham) this is an exciting project that we will endeavour to keep you updated on – or just follow along on The Cliffs, Kangaroos Island Instagram account.

  • This story is not entirely accurate.
Kangaroo Island currently has 3 public accessible golf courses on the island. 2 x 18hole courses at Kingscote and Parndana and a 9 hole course at Penneshaw. As in all regional areas all of these clubs struggle for membership at times. Most islanders and golfers would prefer to see investments in the current golf courses opposed to the development of another one.

    • Ah, thanks for that Ronnie. I kinda recall a few golf courses on the island as a kid but had forgotten. I’ll update the article.
