Lee Westwood sits at 2-under par through 13 holes at the 2013 US Open but had to contend with fans and wicker baskets before play was suspended for the day.
On the sixth hole, Westwood hit his approach shot into the grandstand which was remarkably caught on the full by a courageous (read: crazy) fan.

Since it opened on its current site in 1912, Merion Golf Club has always used wicker baskets placed on top of the pins rather than flags to denote the hole location.
