Australian junior golfers can now play in their own national Open

Australian kids now have the chance to compete for their own national golf title with the introduction of the inaugural US Kids Golf Australian Open to be held in early 2017.

uskidsgolfUS Kids Golf Australia have been giving the next generation of Australian golfers an early taste of tournament golf since the program launched here in 2014.

The focus has always been to make sure the kids are having fun while learning the game of golf and to encourage family interaction, but the program also provides the opportunity to compete in tournament golf with around 70 tournaments will be run across the country at some of Australia’s best golf courses such as Lake Karrinyup, Long Reef and St. Michael’s Golf Clubs.

The US Kids Golf Foundation which is a not for profit business too which means all proceeds go back into developing junior golf in Australia.

The US Kids Golf Australian Open has just been added to the ever-growing list of tournaments, as well as the first-ever US Kids Golf Trans Tasman Cup which will see kids competing in a Ryder Cup style event at Moore Park in Sydney on May 28.

While these tournaments are a great experience for any budding golfer, they also provide a gateway to a number of international events such as the US Kids Golf World Championships which are held every August at the home of golf, Pinehurst North Carolina.

And it’s clear that the program is already a success.

In 2015, 15 Australian kids earned their spot in 1442 strong field at the as the US Kids Golf World Championships, but double that number have already earned their spot in the field for 2016, with another 10 kids looking likely to tee it up at Pinehurst at the completion of the current Summer Tour Series.
