7 ways Australian Golf Fans can prepare for The Masters
It’s Masters week and we’ve got a few tips on how best to prepare yourself for the first major golf tournament of the year.
The Masters Tournament, the first major on the golf calendar is now just a few days away. But despite Augusta National being halfway around the globe and most of golf played in the middle of the night, Australian golf fans still have a bunch of different ways to engage with the tournament.
With six Australians in the field this week, it’s time to get yourself ready and you could do worse than follow a few of the tips we’ve assembled below.
Download The Masters App: The Masters app is probably the best app in golf, offering more than just scoring updates. It’s incredibly user-friendly, has a stack of live videos, and the ability to watch every shot from every player is just incredible.
Organise a Fantasy Golf League: Engage with the tournament through fantasy golf. The Masters hosts its own fantasy league competition, and it’s probably a good time to start your own One & Done golf league for your golf buddies over at Teepster.com.
Watch Golf Digest’s Evolution of Augusta’s Hardest Hole: This short video by the team at Golf Digest is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of insightful pieces about Augusta National floating around but it’s a great way to get a feel for the golf course and stick your toe into the water of golf architecture.
Attend a Masters Breakfast: Australian golf clubs have embraced the tradition of hosting Masters breakfasts, especially following Adam Scott’s historic win in 2013. Hunt around and see if a golf club near you is hosting a Masters breakfast next Monday morning. A big breakfast watching The Masters followed by a round of golf to cap is probably the best way you’re ever going to start a week this year.
Know when and how to watch The Masters: Six Australian players are playing in The 2024 Masters Tournament; Adam Scott, Jason Day, Min Woo Lee, Jasper Stubbs, Cameron Davis and Cameron Smith. But make sure you know when to watch them by plugging them into your favourites on the app and checking out this piece we posted last week “How to watch The Masters in Australia“.
Read what it’s like to be there: We were lucky enough to attend the Masters a few years ago and shared our tournament experiences. They’ll help you understand what it’s like on the ground at Augusta National and should also sow the seeds of planning your own trip to The Masters. It’s Disneyland for golfers, do everything you can to get there.

Plan a Golf Trip: If you’re inspired by The Masters, use the time to plan a golf trip in Australia. You could try and plan a trip on a few golf courses with that Augusta-feel; Bonville, Brookwater, Royal Canberra, Pambula-Merimbula, for example (a long bow, we know) – but just plan a golf trip. We’re blessed with wonderful, accessible golf course in a cracking country so gather your troops and set a date.
