The world’s newest, reversible golf course: video
Tom Doak is the course designer behind a new, reversible golf course in the US.
Tom Doak is one of the world’s most, interesting, sought after golf course designers right now, and one of his most recent projects has a unique reversible design allowing it to be played forwards and backwards.
The idea of a reversible golf course is not unique – The Old Course at St Andrews was designed to be played in reverse – but to design (and build) one takes some serious forethought and experience, but Doak has done exactly that at Forest Dunes Golf Club in Michigan.
Golf Channel recently featured the new golf course as part of their golf architecture and design week, and it looks spectacular. The idea of playing a completely different looking golf course in reverse sounds amazing. Check it out.
Doak is one of the most outspoken characters in golf who isn’t afraid to speak his mind when it comes to golf courses.
His design philosophies have resulted in some of the best, newest golf courses on the planet including Barnbougle Dunes in Tasmania, St.Andrews Beach on the Mornington Peninsula, Cape Kidnappers in New Zealand and a couple of the courses at Bandon Dunes in Oregon, to name a few.
This is awesome! What a treat to be able to play the same course more than one way!
