Justin Rose edges out Tiger Woods to win $10million and FedEx Trophy
With all eyes on Tiger Woods, Justin Rose battled out a round to see him claim the FedEx Cup Trophy and a $10million cheque.
Justin Rose’s final round at the TOUR Championship was an odd one.
Scratching it around East Lake GC for a final round 3-over 73 while the deafening roars of Tiger Woods‘ galleries filled the air, Rose somehow managed to scrape in ahead of Woods in the FedEx Cup rankings and claim the $10million bonus for winning the FedEx Cup Trophy.
Bryson DeChambeau was the number one ranked golfer before the event but he was well out of contention for most of the tournament. As the number two ranked player, Rose just needed to post a good finish to ensure he was ahead of Woods in the rankings when it all finished.
And when Rose lagged his birdie putt next to the hole on the final green, he knew a top-5 finish was his – as was the $10million.
Strangely enough, Rose’s reign at the top of the world golf ranking last just a week losing it back to Dustin Johnson. Johnson finished outright third at the TOUR Championship, four strokes behind Woods and it was enough to regain top spot.
