Year in review: Our 9 favourite golf moments of 2015
Lydia Ko, Jordan Spieth and Jason Day were all on the big stage in 2015.
We’ve already featured the best golf videos of 2015, and some of the worst moments in golf of 2015, but the year was also chock-a-block full of great moments. And so, in no particular order, here are some of our favourites topped with a not-so-surprising layer of Australian bias.
Lydia Ko becomes youngest ever to be ranked world #1 golfer
Lydia Ko is not only all class on the golf course, but she is all class off the golf course too. Not long before she became the youngest ever golfer to be ranked number one in the world, she won the Australian Open. And to kick-start the staff party after the tournament, she slipped $500 behind the bar.

We loved seeing Steven Bowditch take his game up a notch on the PGA Tour in 2015 but it was his response to his victory at the Byron Nelson that gave us (and the media) a good laugh.

Heart transplant golfer randomly met the donor’s aunt in a restaurant
This is not only one of the most amazing golf stories of the year but one of the most amazing stories we’ve ever heard. It has to be read to be believed. But in summary, heart-transplant recipient and PGA Tour player Erik Compton struck up a conversation with a waitress at a restaurant – who turned out to be the aunt of the previous owner of the heart that is now inside his chest.

Jordan Spieth wins 2015 US Open after dramatic, heartbreaking finish
The final round of the US Open at Chambers Bay was gripping, heart-breaking stuff. Jason Day has battled hard through vertigo but had fallen short of victory, Branden Grace was flirting with winning his first major, and then Dustin Johnson three-putted the final hole to hand Jordan Spieth his second successive major golf championship.

Did Geoff Ogilvy drive his golf ball onto Ian Poulter’s balcony?
Geoff Ogilvy played some good golf at The Open Championship at St Andrews but you could have been forgiven for thinking he wasn’t going to make the cut after one of his golf ball’s finished on the balcony of Ian Poulter’s hotel room during a practice round.

Jason Day is finally a major champion – wins 2015 PGA Championship!
His 9th place at the US Open was remarkable given he was playing under duress but a month later he won the the Canadian Open in dramatic fashion and Day would finish the year with a major victory, five wins for the year and finish no worse than 12th in his last nine starts. Day also became the third Australian to be ranked as the best player in the world after his victory at the BMW Championship. A truly incredible year for Jason Day.

USA win Presidents Cup by 1-point after dramatic final day
The 2015 Presidents Cup may well be remembered as the turning point in the events history. The event wasn’t just a relief to see the Internationals compete with the Americans but come within a whisker of claiming victory after a dramatic final day of singles matches.
And then Adam Scott dressed up as a kangaroo at the after party.

We were lucky enough to get a few rounds in at the brand new Cape Wickham golf course on King Island prior to its opening. And it was as good as we had heard it was going to be. It was recently named as Australia’s 5th best golf course.

Matt Jones wins 2015 Emirates Australian Open
The 2015 Australian Open begun with a ceremonial drive featuring past champions and culminated in one of the great finishes in the history of the tournament that saw Matt Jones hold off a fast finishing Adam Scott and Jordan Spieth.
