WOMEN’S OPEN American Lilia Vu wins second major of 2023
After recent struggles with her golf game, Lilia Vu has stormed home to a six-stroke victory at the Women’s Open Championship at Walton Heath.
Lilia Vu’s incredible leap into the limelight in 2023 has culminated in a dominant six-stroke victory to win the AIG Women’s Open Championship at Walton Heath.
Beginning the day in a tie for the lead with hometown favourite Charley Hull, Vu put her foot on the gas early and by the 10th hole had opened up a five-stroke advantage she never looked like relinquishing.
Bruce Young reported on the struggles Vu has had since winning earlier in the year who is now projected to rise to number one in the Rolex World Golf Rankings.
After struggling with her game for much of the time since her win at the Chevron, Vu was overcome with the win.
“It feels surreal to have this kind of Sunday and just to come out with a win, given the past couple months, I’ve been struggling with my game and just feeling good, and yeah, I’m really happy.
“Honestly I just wanted to win golf tournaments out here on the LPGA. It’s just been a crazy year for me, just doing pretty well at the beginning of the season and just hit a lull in the middle, just struggling. I thought at the U.S. Open after I played so bad, I didn’t know if I could ever win again.
