Wild west storm sweeps through WA PGA Championship

Play stopped twice at WA Goldfields PGA Championship as dust and lightning sweep through Kalgoorlie.

You could be forgiven for thinking it would be unlikely that a golf tournament in the Australian desert would be delayed due to storms.

But a huge dust and thunderstorm swept across the Kalgoorlie Golf Course today to delay play during the opening round of the WA Goldfields PGA Championship.

The PGA of Australia knew things looked ominous early via their Twitter feed today.

As lightning storms hit, play was called off twice but organisers still managed to squeeze everyone’s opening round into the day. Just.
