Tiger Woods undergoes ankle surgery, more 2023 majors in doubt

Doubts about the playing future of Tiger Woods after going in for ankle surgery.

Anyone who saw Tiger Woods playing the second round of the Masters won’t be surprised to hear that the 15-time major champion has gone in for surgery.

Woods did make the cut, but the sight of Woods struggling to walk was brutal to watch and he subsequently withdrew from the tournament the next day.

In a statement released on social media, Woods has undergone an operation to fuse the back part of the ankle joint.

Earlier today, Tiger underwent a subtalar fusion procedure to address his post-traumatic arthritis from his previous talus fracture. It was performed by Dr. Martin O’Malley at HSS Sports Medicine Institute New York City. He has determined the surgery to be successful. Tiger is currently recovering and looks forward to beginning his rehabilitation.

Questions are now being asked whether Woods will ever get to a point where he will be able to walk four rounds of a golf tournament again.

These questions have been asked before of course and Tiger has proved doubters wrong over and over again.
