The strongest field of the summer arrives for Perth International

There are plenty of great reason to be watching the Perth International this week.

There is a great field assembling at Lake Karrinyup Country Club this week for Australia’s richest golf tournament, the ISPS HANDA Perth Invitational.

If you can’t get along to the tournament, then it’s being broadcast on 7Two each day from 1pm (AEST).

Frenchman Victor Dubuisson is the highest ranked player in the field and will play in the PGA Tour of Australasia and European Tour co-sanctioned tournament for the first time, after watching the event on TV in previous years.

“Playing this tournament I think was a good thing to do,” said Dubuisson.

“I watched it on TV the last two years, and it looked to be really difficult. I saw a lot of players struggling, so I thought this could be a very good tournament to play.”

American Jason Dufner returns to golf for the first time since withdrawing from the US PGA Championship with a neck injury. He returns to the Perth International hoping to go one better than he did in 2012 when he was beaten by fellow American, Bo Van Pelt, but expectations are low considering his long break from the game.

“[I] haven’t played competitive golf in 11 weeks. I don’t have that many expectations.” Dufner said.

“I’m going to go out there. Feel like I can play 18 holes without any pain, that’ll be a good thing.”

Charl Schwartzel, Thorbjorn Olesen, Peter Uihlein, Geoff Ogilvy, Steven Bowditch, Edoardo Molinari and Marcus Fraser are also part of the field, as well as 2013 champion Jin Jeong.
