Six Aussies to tee off in 2015 FedEx Cup playoffs

The lucrative FedEx Cup Playoffs begin this week with six Australians in the field.

Six Australians have secured themselves a start in the first of the 2015 FedEx Cup Playoffs that begin this week at The Barclays in New Jersey.

But with the top-125 players from the PGA Tour in the field for week 1, and 25 players to miss out on progressing to week 2, a few Australians will be needing good performances at The Barclays.

Surprisingly, Adam Scott is the lowest ranked of the six Aussies who have qualified for the FedEx Cup Playoffs. Scott qualified in 94th place, precariously close to the Top-100 cut-line that comes into play after The Barclays. He’ll need a decent week at Plainfield Country Club to progress to next week’s Deutsche Bank Championship.

World #3 Jason Day is the top Australian qualifier, sitting in second place behind Jordan Spieth. The PGA Championship winner will be keen to continue his winning form this week and set himself up for a shot at the $10 million first prize.

Steven Bowditch is also sitting well up in the rankings (22nd) after a great, consistent year on the PGA Tour. He is joined in this week’s event by Marc Leishman (50th), Matt Jones (55th) and John Senden (88th).
