WATCH Scottie Scheffler wins WGC Match Play, now world number 1

Scottie Scheffler has become the 25th male golfer to rise to the top of the world golf rankings.

Scottie Scheffler outgunned match play golf specialist Kevin Kisner to win the final of the WGC Dell Technologies Match Play Championship, 4 and 3.

Despite Kisner’s prowess in the head-to-head golf format, the 2019 champion didn’t win a hole against Scheffler who closed out the match at the 15th hole.

The victory meant that the 25-year-old American claimed the $2.1m prize and is now ranked as the best male golfer in the world.

Scottie Scheffler’s rise to the top of the Overall World Golf Rankings has been quite remarkable. The WGC Match Play victory was his 3rd in his last five starts earning himself $6.2m in just seven weeks.
