Scheffler Wins Third Major at PGA Championship: video highlights
Scottie Scheffler claimed his third major title with a five-shot victory at the 2025 PGA Championship, overcoming early struggles and a brief challenge from Jon Rahm, while Australians Adam Scott and Cameron Davis faltered late at Quail Hollow.
Scottie Scheffler secured his third major title with a five-shot victory at the 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow, closing with an even-par 71 to finish at 11-under 273.
The world No.1 saw a five-stroke lead on the front nine disappear by the turn, but responded with a composed performance on the back nine to outdistance his challengers.
The win adds to his two Masters titles and comes just weeks after an eight-shot win at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson.
After struggling to find his swing early in the final round—missing seven of nine fairways on the front nine—Scheffler found himself tied with Jon Rahm at the 10th tee.
However, the American regained control with birdies at the 10th, 14th and 15th holes.
“So to step up when I needed to the most, I’ll remember that for a while,” Scheffler said. “I hit the important shots well this week, and that’s why I’m walking away with the trophy.”
Rahm, who had climbed into contention with three birdies in four holes around the turn, faltered late, playing the final three holes in five over par and finishing tied for eighth.
Among the Australians, both Adam Scott and Cameron Davis held promising positions midway through the final round before slipping back during the closing stretch. Scott, who had climbed to within three strokes of the lead after birdies at four, seven and 10, dropped back with a bogey at the 14th and a double-bogey at the 18th to finish tied for 19th at 2-under.
Davis, who also reached 2-under with a birdie at 15, bogeyed each of the final three holes—part of Quail Hollow’s demanding ‘Green Mile’—to also finish at 2-under after a final-round 72.
Scheffler’s third major title comes a year after his arrest during the 2024 PGA Championship, an incident in which charges were later dropped.
Reflecting on his recovery and performance this week, he noted, “It was a long week. I felt like this was as hard as I battled for a tournament in my career.”
Now halfway to the career Grand Slam, Scheffler declined to speculate on completing the feat, stating, “I don’t focus on that kind of stuff. I love coming out here and trying to compete and win golf tournaments. That is what I’m focused on.”
