Rory McIlroy snaps club after frustrating round

After hitting one into the unknown, then another poor shot, Rory McIlroy snapped his golf club.

Rory McIlroy hasn’t had any bad results this year, but by his standards, they haven’t been great either.

After a couple of top-10 finishes at the TOUR Championship and the US Open, we thought he was on the rise with a win just around the corner. Even Mick was picking him over at Teepster.

But so far Rory looks a long way from winning.

Two poor rounds bookended two good ones last week at the CJ CUP, and this week isn’t going so well either.

McIlroy drove the ball into the unknown (see image) on the final hole of the opening round of the ZOZO Championship this morning. After getting out of trouble, his approach shot finished shot and right, which is when McIlroy decided he’d had enough of that club.

McIlroy eventually carded a double-bogey on the 18th, his second for the back nine, to finish with a 1-over par 73.
