Ricky Ponting come close to albatross at New Zealand Open
Former Australian cricket captain Ricky Ponting is no slouch with the golf clubs and showed off some of his skills during the second round of the New Zeland Open at Millbrook Resort today.
Ponting came within a few feet of holing out for an albatross at the par-4 7th hole after his drive cleared the greenside bunkers and bounded up towards the hole.
The drive was clearly a great one with Ponting egging the ball on to make sure it got to the green.
The shot set up a simple eagle putt that Ponting had no trouble with. Albeit with what looks like a slightly anchored broomstick putter?
Similar to the Dunhill Links and Pebble Beach Pro-Am events, amateur golfers play alongside the professionals. Ponting is playing with Louis Dobbelaar at Millbrook this week.
