Rickie Fowler finishes with best score across all four majors in 2014

For sheer competitiveness and consistency at all four majors in 2014, Rick Yutaka Fowler was a clear winner.

Last year Australian golfers Adam Scott and Jason Day were the best performing golfers at all four majors. In 2014 Rickie Fowler was the clear winner.

Fowler finished in a tie for 5th at The Masters, a tie for second at the US Open and The Open Championship before finishing in a tie for third at last week’s US PGA Championship.

And when you add up the scores for each of the 13 golfers who made the cut at each of the four majors in 2014, Rickie Fowler was five shots better than Rory McIlroy and 11-shots better than Jim Furyk.

Eye on Golf also reported that:

“Fowler is only the third golfer in the modern era to finish top five at each of the four majors of the season. Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods are the other two.”

Adam Scott was the best performing Aussie at 18-under par, 14 strokes more than Fowler. But both of them would trade any of these good performances in for a major championship.
