Queensland town of Beaudesert to name a street after Jason Day

The town where Jason Day grew up will be name a street after the 2015 US PGA Champion.

Beaudesert is a small town in the Scenic Rim region about 90 kilometres south of Brisbane and it’s where 2015 US PGA Championship winner Jason Day spent much of his time growing up. Local residents have been keen to acknowledge Day’s achievements in some way and the local council have decided to name a street Jason Day Drive in his honour.

According to the Beaudesert Times;

Scenic Rim Mayor John Brent said the street naming was a fitting tribute to the Beaudesert-born sportsman’s achievements on the global stage.

“His connection to Beaudesert and the Scenic Rim and his continued success is a source of immense pride for the community,” he said.

“Jason’s prowess on the international golf circuit over the past year has certainly shone a global spotlight on Beaudesert and the wider region.”

Cr Brent said council had received many submissions and enquiries from residents about acknowledging Day’s achievements in Beaudesert.
