Plane Crash Shocks Golfers at Sydney’s Mona Vale Course
A light aircraft crash-landed on the fairways of Mona Vale Golf Course in Sydney’s Northern Beaches this afternoon, startling golfers enjoying a sunny Sunday round.
The Piper Cherokee, carrying a trainee pilot and instructor, lost engine power mid-flight and made an emergency landing on the 15th hole, narrowly avoiding players nearby.
Both men, aged in their 50s, escaped with minor injuries and were taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in stable condition. The crash tore off the plane’s undercarriage and damaged its tail, but no one on the ground was hurt.
Astonished golfers captured dramatic footage of the plane’s descent and aftermath, with some rushing to help the dazed occupants. One group had just celebrated a hole-in-one moments before the crash, adding to the surreal atmosphere.
