Phil Mickelson will skip US Open to attend daughter’s graduation
Don’t bet on Phil Mickelson winning the US Open next week. He won’t be playing.
Phil Mickelson has decided to miss next week’s US Open at Erin Hills so he can attend his 18-year-old daughter’s high school graduation.
Mickelson told reporters that the decision was an easy one as it was always assumed he would be there.
“I love the (U.S.) Open, but this is a special moment for us,” Mickelson said. “I mean, my daughter’s speaking, she’s giving the speech there at graduation. It’s one of those things you just need to be there, so it wasn’t a hard decision.”
And it sounds like this week’s FedEx St.Jude Classic has found a new pro-am format that everyone seems to like with each pro playing just nine holes.
