Phil Mickelson breaks his club during bunker shot: video

A struggling Phil Mickelson snaps his club at the Valero Texas Open.

Phil Mickelson isn’t having the best start to 2015. In his five tournaments, he’s finished no better than a tie for 17th place and has twice missed the cut.

During his opening round of the Valero Texas Open, Mickelson was forced to play a difficult fairway bunker shot at the par-4 12th hole at TPC San Antonio. At impact, the club head snaps off, “What the heck!?”.

Mickelson often emerges with incredible form right when you’re not expecting it and often right around Masters time. But on this occasion Lefty looks particularly rusty and it’ll take some golf to get out of this slump.

We’ll never rule out Mickelson for another green jacket in two weeks time though, no matter how bad his game looks right now.
