Patrick Cantlay storms past Adam Scott to win Memorial Tournament

A fantastic closing round 4-under par 68 from Adam Scott was not enough to catch a record-braking round from Patrick Cantlay.

Cantlay carded an 8-under par 64, the lowest ever final round by a winner at the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Ohio to complete a two-stroke victory over Adam Scott.

Scott went into the round behind tournament leader Martin Kaymer but despite a great round, including a run of three consecutive birdies on the back nine to get into contention, Cantlay was just on another level.

Martin Blake says that Adam Scott is back in a piece over at Golf Australia:

“Likely to be back into the top 20 in the world when this week’s rankings arrived, he looks to be in a great place after a period through 2017 and 2018 when he appeared to be declining as a player. It is his fifth top-10 finish on the PGA Tour this season already.”
