Oliver Wilson wins as McIlroy putts ball into road hole bunker

Oliver Wilson won his first European Tour title in 228 starts at the 2014 Dunhill Links Championship.

The former Ryder Cup player had finished second on nine previous occasions before losing his tour card but after dropping a three shot lead early in his final round, he prevailed to >win the Dunhill Links Championship trophy by one shots from Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood and Richie Ramsay.

After dropping two shots at the opening hole, McIlroy had got himself back in contention and was tied for the lead at the famous 17th road hole at The Old Course at St. Andrews.

After short-siding himself on the approach, McIlroy was faced with a tricky shot over or around the road hole bunker. Electing to putt, McIlroy didn’t get it right and the ball found its way into the bunker.
