Netflix Confirms Release Date for Happy Gilmore 2

The long-anticipated sequel to Happy Gilmore now has an official release date.

Netflix has confirmed that Happy Gilmore 2 will premiere on July 25, 2025, exclusively on the streaming platform. Adam Sandler returns as the title character nearly 30 years after the original 1996 comedy, which followed a failed hockey player discovering his talent for golf.

Several original cast members will reprise their roles, including Christopher McDonald as Shooter McGavin, Julie Bowen as Virginia Venit, and Ben Stiller as retirement home manager Hal. The film will also feature cameo appearances from professional golfers such as Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Brooks Koepka, and Jordan Spieth.

Reportedly, a raft of other celebrities are making cameos in the film such as Eminem, Travis Kelce, and Bad Bunny.

While plot details remain limited, the teaser trailer suggests the continuation of Gilmore’s rivalry with McGavin, with one scene taking place at the headstone of Gilmore’s former coach, Chubbs Peterson.

The film is written by Sandler and Tim Herlihy, with Kyle Newacheck directing.

With so many cameos from golfers and celebrities, one might wonder if there is much plot to squeeze into the movie. Let’s hope so.
