Minjee Lee leads Chevron Championship: video highlights

Minjee Lee’s quest for a second major golf title is off to a cracking start after an opening-round 6-under 66 at the Chevron Championship in California.

Minjee Lee won her first major championship at the Evian Championship last July and has set herself up for a crack at another major at the Mission Hills Country Club at Rancho, Mirage California.

The 25-year-old West Australian carded a bogey-free and six birdies to sit tied at the top of the leaderboard with American Jennifer Kupcho.

Formerly known as the ANA Inspiration, the Chevron Championship is the first (of the five) women’s major golf championships to be held in 2022.

Lee has previously finished in the top-10 at this event; finishing in a tie for 3rd place in 2017 and a tie for 7th in 2020.

Fellow Australians Gabi Ruffels and former Women’s British Open Championship winner Hannah Green are also off to a great start.

At just 21-years of age, Ruffels already has two top-20 finishes at this major and fired a strong opening 4-under par 68 to sit just two strokes behind the leaders. After making history in Australia earlier this year by becoming the first female winner of a mixed-gender golf tournament, Green has started with a 2-under par 70.
