Marc Leishman Claims Victory at LIV Golf Miami, Leads Ripper GC to Team Title

Australia’s Marc Leishman secured his first professional win in four years with a one-stroke triumph at LIV Golf Miami. The 41-year-old shot a bogey-free final round of 68 to finish at six-under par, edging out South Africa’s Charl Schwartzel by a single shot.

The win, his first since joining LIV Golf, also helped lift Ripper GC — which includes Cameron Smith, Lucas Herbert, and Matt Jones — to a convincing team victory, eight shots clear of Crushers GC.

Leishman began the final day three strokes behind overnight leader Bryson DeChambeau but quickly gained momentum with a birdie on the opening hole. Further gains came at the 4th, 8th and 10th before a string of closing pars sealed the win.

A key par putt from three metres on the 18th proved decisive after Sergio Garcia, playing in the group behind, found the water on his approach and made bogey. The victory earned Leishman $US4 million in individual prize money, along with a share in the $US3 million team purse.

Despite the success, Leishman will not feature at this year’s Masters, as LIV Golf events remain unrecognised by the Official World Golf Rankings.
