Kingston Links Golf Course in Melbourne to close in July

Kingston Links Golf course in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne will host its last group of golfers on July 1 before shutting its doors for good.

Golf Industry Central have reported the news that Kingston Links Golf Course in the suburb of Rowville in Melbourne will close in July after the site owners have opted in favour of turning the course into a residential development.

Golf Services Management director Ian Denny remarked that “it has been a wonderful challenge keeping the venue operating to a standard envied by most public golf courses, knowing that the end was always just around the corner. Having previously closed the Park Course for the Amstel Golf Club in Cranbourne certainly gave us valuable experience in what to expect and how to handle the closure given the complexity of balancing staff, marketing and course maintenance.”

The redevelopment is reportedly set to include 800 homes on the site, which is on a 100-year flood plain.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported back in 2016 that the site was bought by Neville Pask for over $60 million.

Queensland’s fourth richest person, BRW Rich Lister Neville Pask, is paying local businessman Vince LaManna a speculated price in excess of $60 million for Rowville’s prominent Kingston Links golf course, which is now mooted to become a billion dollar housing estate.

The 67 hectare property, 27 kilometres south east of Melbourne, is trading off-market, 13 years after the LaManna Direct supermarket founder paid $14 million for it.

The final groups of golfers will play the golf course on July 1 and you can get some great deals on green fees and pro shop gear during the closing down sale.
