Jordan Spieth will join Scott, McIlroy and Day at 2014 Australian Open in Sydney

The 2014 Australian Open is shaping up to be a beauty with another big name being added to the field.

Another big name has been added to the 2014 Australian Open field at the Australian Golf club in Sydney. Young hot shot Jordan Spieth will arrive in Australia for the first time and will join Adam Scott, Jason Day and Rory McIlroy as part of the 2014 Australian Open field in November (27 – 30).

It’s not a stretch to say Jordan Spieth is the biggest rising star in golf right now. At just 21-years of age, Spieth already has a PGA Tour victory to his name by winning the 2013 John Deere Classic to become the youngest player to win on the PGA tour in 82 years.

The young Texan will represent the US team at the Ryder Cup in Scotland this month and also came within three strokes of becoming the youngest Masters winner in history when he finished second to Bubba Watson at the 2014 Masters Tournament.

“I can’t wait to get down to Australia at the end of the year and be part of such a terrific field in Sydney,” Spieth said.

“I’ve heard so many great things about Australia, the culture, and Mr. Nicklaus’s redesign of The Australian Golf Club. Given the great history associated with this event , I’ll be giving it everything I’ve got to add my name to the impressive list of champions.”

The inclusion of Spieth means there is now four of the top-15 golfers in the world confirmed in the 2014 Australian Open field. Which is not just great for Australian golf fans but good news for any other golfers looking to make an impact at the tournament as the world rankings points on offer at The Australian in November has just gone up another notch.

The Emirates Australian Open will be broadcast live on the Seven Network across all four days and the championship will again be sanctioned by the PGA Tour of Australasia and OneAsia.
