Jason Day’s Controversial Malbon Jumper from The Masters Sold for $18,000
The Malbon jumper worn by Jason Day during the 2024 Masters has been sold at auction for $18,000.
The distinctive cream-coloured jumper, which drew mixed reactions during the tournament, will benefit a good cause, with proceeds going to the Brighter Days Foundation. The charity, established by Day and his wife Ellie, supports several nonprofits in Central Ohio.
Day, who left Nike earlier this year to join Malbon, has been noted for his bold fashion choices featuring a lot of fabric, but none more talked about than the sweater he wore on Day 2 at Augusta National.
The sweater, compared by some to a carton of Marlboro cigarettes, created such a stir that Day was asked to remove it before starting his second round.
“Yeah, they asked me to take it off, the vest off yesterday,” Day said after his second round of The Masters.
“Respectfully, you do that because it’s all about the tournament here, and I understand that. I respect the tournament.”
The auction winner not only secured the highly debated piece of golf apparel but also a round of golf with Day.
