Jason Day wins Farmers Insurance Open after epic six-hole playoff
Stretching out over five days Jason Day has claimed his 11th PGA Tour victory and his first since 2016 after winning the Farmers Insurance Open.
It took an epic six sudden-death holes, with the sixth coming on Monday morning for Day to eventually prevail over Sweden’s Alex Noren to chalk up the victory.
After Noren found the water that guards the front of the green, Day laid up from the rough on the par-5 18th hole at Torrey Pines.

Day’s exquisite approach left him with nothing more than a tap-in for victory.
It was a sweet victory for Day who endured a rough 2017 that closed without a win and included dealing with his mum’s battle with cancer.
While it was obvious to see Day’s relief at grabbing his 11th PGA Tour victory in his greenside interview, it is clear he may have a battle on his hands to manage his back issues brought upon by a golf swing that puts a lot of pressure on his lower back. Stay tuned.
