Jason Day storms into PGA Championship contention: video highlights

Hideki Matsuyama and Kevin Kisner lead the PGA Championship, but Jason Day is lurking close behind.

Jason Day has surged into third place at the 2017 US PGA Championship after a sensational 5-under par 66.

Day just managed to complete his second round at Quail Hollow before play was suspended due to darkness and finds himself just two-strokes behind the leaders Kevin Kisner and Hideki Matsuyama who are at 8-under par.

Day’s round included five birdies and an incredible (almost albatross) eagle at the par-5 7th hole that kick started his rise up the leaderboard.

Day thanked playing partner Dustin Johnson for managing to complete his round.

As Day’s group walked up the 17th fairway they realised they would struggle to complete their round as before play was suspended.

Johnson suggested he putt out and quickly play his tee shot down the 18th meaning he, Day and Stenson could get into the clubhouse without the need to complete their round early Saturday.

Day will most likely play his third round in the group behind leaders Kevin Kisner and Hideki Matsuyama after the 25 players complete their second round tomorrow morning.
