Jason Day continues Aussie domination on PGA Tour with one-shot victory at Arnold Palmer Invitational

Jason Day has claimed his fourth victory in his last six starts on the PGA Tour by winning the Arnold Palmer Invitational by one shot.

A superb par-saving up-and-down at the notoriously difficult par-4 18th hole saw 28-year-old Day emerge from a packed leaderboard to claim his eighth PGA Tour victory, The one-shot win ahead of American Kevin Chappell will see Day rise to number two in the world golf rankings (from #3).

Day entered the final round in a share of the lead but never quite got into a good groove having to grind out a decent round. Day found in a battle with several other players for the lead including American Kevin Chappell who held a one stroke lead with two hole remaining.

When Chappell made bogey at the difficult final hole, Day sunk this sensational birdie putt for a two-shot swing and take over as sole leader at 17-under-par for the tournament.

Fellow Australian Adam Scott showed glimpses of his great form that saw him win in his last two starts. Scott finished eight shots behind Day in a tie for 12th spot despite dropping five shots at the 18th hole (triple-bogey, double-bogey) over the weekend.

Marc Leishman also looks to be building nicely ahead of the Masters Tournament in three weeks. Leishman finished one shot behind Scott at 8-under par in a tie for 17th place.
