“Is Tiger Woods as Good as They Say?”: Clueless Police Questioning of Scheffler
New Footage Reveals Scottie Scheffler’s Calm Demeanor in Police Car After Arrest.
Newly released footage from Netflix’s Full Swing documentary series has shed light on Scottie Scheffler’s unexpected arrest ahead of the second round of the 2024 PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club.
Scheffler, the world’s top-ranked golfer at the time, was taken into custody following an alleged traffic violation near the tournament entrance. He was charged with multiple offences, including second-degree assault on a police officer, before all charges were later dismissed as the incident was deemed a misunderstanding.
The footage reveals an officer, seemingly unaware of Scheffler’s status in the golf world, attempting to make small talk.
At one point, he asks, “I assume you’re pretty good if you’re playing in the PGA?” to which Scheffler modestly responds, “I’m alright, yeah.” At the time, Scheffler had won four of his last five PGA Tour starts, including the Masters.
The conversation takes a more surreal turn when the officer inquires about Tiger Woods.
“Is Tiger as good as he says he is?” the officer asks. Scheffler, without hesitation, replies, “He’s pretty darn good.”
The exchange, now widely shared across social media, has been met with a mix of amusement and disbelief from golf fans.
“First of all, I was freaking out because I somehow went from driving into the golf course to a jail cell,” Scheffler says in the documentary. “And I still don’t know how that happened exactly.”
