Golf returns to Victoria after COVID-19 ban lifted

Golfers across Victoria are celebrating the news that from Wednesday morning they will be able to return to the golf course.

Victorian Premier Dan Andrews has lifted the ban on golf as the state begins to ease restrictions placed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As of Wednesday morning, Victorians golfers will once again be able to play golf – under strict social distancing rules.

Other activities that will also be allowed on Wednesday included fishing and kicking the footy, but for many Victorian golfers, it was the mentioned of golf which has them excited.

“Whether it be hiking, fishing, playing golf, going for a walk, kicking a footy – no more than 10, and there will be physical distancing and hygiene arrangements, commonsense basically,” Dan Andrews said.

“You might be able to play a game of golf, but there won’t be rakes in the bunkers, and people won’t be milling around the clubhouse. The clubhouse will in fact be shut.”
