Golf Comes in All Shapes and Sizes – Even in the Red Dirt of Broome
Golf isn’t just for the pros — it’s a game that thrives in backyards, bushland, and anywhere people find joy in swinging a club.

When we think of golf, it’s easy to picture pristine fairways, pro tournaments, and high-tech gear. But sometimes, the most joyful forms of golf are found far from the spotlight — like in the backyard of Fraser and Shirley Burns in Broome, WA that has been featured on the ABC News website.
The couple, aged 92 and 86, have built a nine-hole par-three course on their five-hectare property, complete with mango trees, boabs, and a poolside “clubhouse.”
Known as Misstree Golf Club, it’s a celebration of creativity, community, and the pure love of the game.
“There’s no dress code — thongs and hats are welcome,” Fraser told ABC News. “You only need a putter and a seven iron.”
This story is a beautiful reminder that golf isn’t just about the pros. It’s about play, passion, and making the game your own — whether that’s on a championship course or in your own backyard.
