Tommy Fleetwood Claims TOUR Championship and First PGA Tour Title

Tommy Fleetwood ended years of close calls with a composed victory at East Lake, winning the 2025 TOUR Championship, his first PGA Tour title, and the FedExCup in one unforgettable week.

Tommy Fleetwood has ended years of near-misses with a statement victory at the 2025 TOUR Championship, closing with a composed 2‑under 68 at East Lake to win by three at 18‑under—his maiden PGA Tour title and the FedExCup in one glorious swoop.

The Englishman pocketed US$10 million (about A$15.5m) as the season’s champion, finally shaking the “best without a win” tag that followed him across the States.

Even for a player as universally admired as Fleetwood, Sunday had its jitters. Playing in the final group, he seized control when Patrick Cantlay stumbled out of the blocks (bogey–double) and then held firm as Scottie Scheffler briefly surged before finding water on 15.

Fleetwood’s timely birdies on 13 and 14 rebuilt the cushion, and a steady walk up the last brought the roar he’s long deserved.

“When you’ve lost so many times, a three‑shot lead down the last doesn’t feel like that many,” Fleetwood said, before turning to the galleries: “[The fans] are amazing… I’m so lucky with the support I get… I hope everyone knows how grateful I am for it.”

He also reflected on the journey rather than just the destination.

“I’m proud of what I’ve done before… Whether I’ve won or not, I’ve still been proud of my career… This is just one win, hopefully the first of many to come. You can’t win plenty if you don’t win the first one.”

In truth, this triumph had been brewing all week—and all season. Fleetwood shot 64–63 to share the halfway lead and never drifted from the sharp end.

Only a fortnight removed from more Sunday heartache, he arrived in Atlanta embracing the moment with a wry smile, even joking mid‑week it would be “pretty funny” if his first U.S. win doubled as the FedExCup.

Funny or not, he made it happen.
