FIVE MILE BEACH? A second new golf course has just been approved for Hobart
Excitement is building about the upcoming opening of the new Seven Mile Beach golf course in Hobart, but plans have just been approved for a second golf course.
Likely to be known as Five Mile Beach, a second new golf course was unanimously approved by all but one Clarence councillor yesterday, “who abstained due to a ‘moral opposition’ to the sport of golf.”
The second golf course will be located on a wider section of land north of Seven Mile Beach near Hobart Airport and will share the same clubhouse and maintenance facilities.
As reported at the Pulse Tasmania, the local council is very much on board with the project and understands the associated tourism and benefits to the local community that golf brings.
Blomeley said the project will also create new opportunities for local businesses and the wider community.
“Golf tourism is a huge industry … and the opportunity to have two courses on par with the best in the state right here in Clarence will deliver significant social economic opportunities and benefits to our community,” he said.
The latest we’ve heard is that the majority of the Seven Mile Beach golf course will be open for play by the end of 2024 with all 18-holes ready in early 2025.
Australian pro golfer and the brains behind Seven Mile Beach shared the news on Twitter.
