FED EX CUP / Justin Thomas does enough to claim trophy and $10million

Justin Thomas couldn’t stop Xander Schauffele from winning the TOUR Championship but he got his hands on the Fed Ex Cup Trophy.

Xander Schauffele managed to win the battle at East Lake and raise the TOUR Championship trophy, but the biggest prize went to Justin Thomas whose second place finish on the day was enough to rise above Jordan Spieth and claim the Fed Ex Cup Trophy and the $10 million prize.

Australians Jason Day and Marc Leishman finished in a tie for 17th and 24th respectively at East Lake which saw them ranked 15th and 4th on the overall Fed Ex Cup standings.

Leishman has a good shot at winning the most lucrative prize in golf ranked inside the top-5 players but had trouble off the tee for most of the week.

Day got himself into contention on Saturday and at one stage had a share of the lead but it struggled to tame the difficult back nine at East Lake GC in Atlanta. Day finished the week at 2-under par, 10 shots behind Schauffele and 5-over the card for the back nine across all four rounds.
