Dufnering… and Ogilvy misses out on US Masters

Three major things came out of the Houston Open this weekend. DA Points won the event, Geoff Ogilvy missed out on a spot in the US Masters and ‘Dufnering’ became a thing.

In case you missed it, DA Points made a clutch putt with an old putter than used to belong to his mother to win the Houston Open and earn himself a spot in the US Masters field in two weeks time.

Geoff Ogilvy needed a good result to stay within the world’s top 50 ranked golfers and earn himself a spot in the field. He missed the cut and the subsequent US Masters berth, tyhe first time Ogilvy has missed the major since 2006 where he has never finished worse than a tie for 39th position.

And now to this ‘Dufnering’ thing.

In summary, Jason Dufner was sitting in a classroom doing some charity work last week. The class were doing some relaxation drills and as Dufner put it, “…I guess I took it to another level.”

What can I say, I was tired, my back hurt from sitting on the floor, and we were talking about relaxation and focusing. #dufnering

Other golfers picked up on the photo and subsequently turned the pose into a verb, Dufnering, replicating the pose themselves.
