Aussie golf boom in full swing as newcomers tee off

Golf Australia today announced record growth in club participation and total participation, with a 6.4 percent increase in club members and a 21 percent (210,000) year-on-year rise in round players, according to AusPlay data.

The 2020-21 Golf Club Participation Report, which was prepared by Golf Business Advisory Services, showcases a combination of Golf Australia’s club member participation data and Sport Australia’s AusPlay data, with both data sets providing the golf industry a year-on-year view of the game’s participation trends.

Some of Australia’s best male and female golfers will return to 13th Beach next week to compete in the innovative Vic Open again.

The men’s field was given an added incentive yesterday with the announcement that the top-3 finishers will be given an automatic berth in the 15th Open Championship at St Andrews in July.

Perth golfer cards hole-in-one and albatross in same round

A single hole-in-one or albatross in a round of golf is worth celebrating. But both in the same round is simply extraordinary.

A number of media outlets reported on this extraordinary round of golf from Perth golfer, Rowan McCarthy.

McCarthy was playing Wembley Golf Course as part of a Perth Golf Network tournament when he managed to card both a hole-in-one and an albatross in the space of four holes.
