Cape Wickham golf course is up for sale

If you happen to be in the market for a golf course, there is a very sweet links for sale down on King Island.

Golf Australia and Golf Digest magazine’s are reporting that Cape Wickham golf course is up for sale. Owner Duncan Andrews also developed The Dunes on the Mornington Peninsula and Thirteenth Beach at Barwon Heads but has put the famed golf course on the market stating he has done everything he can with the property.

Brendan James at Golf Australia reports that now the golf course has been built and lauded as one of the world’s best, Andrews no longer wants to manage a resort course.

“Building a world class golf course was pretty much my sole motivation for getting involved with Cape Wickham. So 16 months after opening I seem to be running a resort hotel with a golf course, and I don’t want to run a resort hotel regardless of how well it is going.

“Wickham needs to go to the next level and that means access to hospitality skills and energy, that frankly, at 68, I do not have.”

Cape Wickham opened on King Island in late 2015 but has already received high praise. Golf Australia magazine ranks it in the top-5 courses in the country, the best public access course in Australia and Golf Digest ranked it as the 24th best golf course in the world.

Not a bad buy. Anyone got some spare cash on hand?
