Cameron Smith claims playoff victory at Sony Open in Hawaii: video highlights

Cameron Smith has claimed his second PGA Tour victory with a playoff victory at the Sony Open in Hawaii.

In wet conditions at the Waiʻalae Country Club, Smith chased American Brendan Steele all day before making a birdie from the greenside bunker at the par-5 18th hole to get to 11-under par and force a playoff.

Smith’s drive at the extra hole was pushed into the trees on the right of the par-4 10th hole but a great pitch out saw Smith set up a great birdie opportunity.

However, when Steele flew the green with his approach shot from the fairway and could not get up-and-down, Smith’s two-putt for par was enough to win the tournament.

The win was Smith’s first individual PGA Tour victory after claiming the Zurich Classic of New Orleans Classic while partnered with Jonas Blixt in 2017.

The win was extra special for Smith, who along with Marc Leishman and the PGA Tour have been pledged their support of the Australian bushfire relief this week.
