Cameron Davis shooting for PGA Tour after victory on Web.com Tour

Australian Open champion Cameron Davis has won his first tournament on the Web.com tour with a one stroke victory at the Nashville Open.

Davis had a nervous wait to see if his 18-under par total would be enough to win or whether a sudden-death playoff would be required.

Americans Kevin Dougherty and Josh Teater both had birdie putts on the final hole to force a playoff but both missed handing Davis the trophy, a guitar to place on the mantle piece.

The victory came i similar fashion to the way Davis won the Emirates Australian Open at The Australian Golf Club last year. Starting six-shots back, Davis fired an incredible 7-under par 65 including five brides in his last eight holes to claim victory.

The win should see Davis earn his card for the PGA Tour next season and with several starts on the tour ahead of him including the Memorial Tournament this week in Ohio.

Davis now has a chance to make a name for himself in the big stage after making a name for himself in Australia last year.

“It’s hard to compare. The Aussie Open was fantastic, it was my first win and such a big event, but getting it done on this Tour, gets me toward the PGA TOUR.” Davis said.

“It’s good to get a win out here and it means a lot.”
