2014 US Open: Kaymer leads by five; round three video highlights

Martin Kaymer stays composed to maintain a five shot lead going into tomorrow’s final round of the 2014 US Open.

Just two golfers finished their third round under the card in a difficult third round of the 2014 US Open.

Rickie Fowler and Erik Compton both carded 3-under par 67’s to sit in second and third spots on the leaderboard. But both players are still five shots behind Martin Kaymer.

Kaymer wasn’t as accurate off the tee as he was during his near flawless opening two rounds. The German remained composed despite mistakes including putting off the green at the par-3 6th hole, to card a 2-over 72.

Pinehurst #2 is proving a typically difficult US Open course but it is still Kaymer’s tournament to lose tomorrow.

It’s been a rough US Open for the Australians.

Three of the 11 Australian golfers to begin the tournament played well enough to make the cut.

Adam Scott looked pretty frustrated after his third round and said he “might’ve played a bit to cautious”. Jason Day sits along side Scott, 11 shots behind Kaymer, at three-over par for the tournament and will be playing for world ranking points tomorrow.

Aaron Baddeley was the third Aussie to make the cut and is a shot further back on 4-over par for the tournament.
