Yarra Yarra GC appoints Renaissance Golf Design for renovation
Tom Doak’s golf design company Renaissance Golf Design has been appointed as the consulting architects for the re-design of Yarra Yarra Golf Club.
In a media release from Yarra Yarra GC, the committee unanimously agreed to appoint Renaissance Golf Design as consulting architects with the aim to restore many of the original design elements original designer Alex Russell intended, and return the course back to one of the best in the Melbourne Sandbelt.
“Yarra Yarra is one of the finest courses designed by the esteemed Alex Russell and stands up extremely well in a neighbourhood noted worldwide for fine and unique golf courses.” Doak said.
“Mr. Russell surely made the most of an elegant piece of property. It is with great pleasure that we have been appointed by the Yarra Yarra Golf Club.”
In addition to Tom Doak’s magnificent course design work around the world including Pacific Dunes and Streamsong Resort in the US, Cape Kidnappers and Tara Iti in New Zealand, Renaissance Golf already has a strong presence in Australian golf course architecture.
Doak and his team also designed Barnbougle Dunes with Mike Clayton, and are currently the consulting architects for the restoration of Royal Adelaide, Royal Melbourne and Concord Golf Club in Sydney.
