Woods, Mickelson and DeChambeau added as captain’s picks to US Ryder Cup team

With the 2018 Ryder Cup around the corner, team captain’s are finalizing their wildcard picks.

Even if without Australian golfers playing a part in the event, any golf fan will tell you that the Ryder Cup has provided some of the best moments in golf over the past decade or two.

Europe’s stunning last day comeback at Medinah in 2012, and eventual one point victory remains as one of the most captivating few hours of golf we’ve ever watched on TV.

With this in mind we can’t wait to watch the 2018 Ryder Cup to be played out at Le Golf National in Paris, September 28-30, and the US and European teams are nearly finalised.

Both teams have eight automatic selections based on points acquired over the previous two years. The automatic team selections for each team were:

Europe: Justin Rose, Tyrrell Hatton, Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood, Jon Rahm, Alexander Noren, Francesco Molinari, Thorbjorn Olesen
USA: Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed, Justin Thomas, Bubba Watson, Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler, Webb Simpson

US team captain Jim Furyk announced that Bryson DeChambeau, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson will make up three of his four captain’s picks to join the team. The fourth and final player to join the team will be announced on Monday following the BMW Championship with Tony Finau the most likely candidate.

European team captain Thomas Bjorn will announce his four captain’s picks tomorrow.
